A fishing photograph without a fish
Let the place carry some of the memory.

Look beyond the obvious subject
A worn path, the shape of a landing net, or a reflection beside the rod can explain a session. Photograph from a safe, permitted position and keep equipment secure. The image does not need to prove an achievement to be worth keeping.
Ask before including people
Respect another angler’s privacy and ask before making them a recognisable part of your photograph. Avoid revealing sensitive locations or access information without considering the consequences. A good memory for you should not become an unwelcome disclosure for someone else.
Choose a small set
Keep a few images that tell different parts of the day rather than many near-identical frames. Add a short, accurate caption while you remember the details. A quiet session can become a rich story without a dramatic catch.
