The gate belongs in the fishing story

A place to fish is also someone’s land and working space.

Read the access agreement

Permission to fish can come with limits on routes, parking, times, or equipment. Check the current terms instead of assuming a previous visit covers every situation. Look for instructions from the relevant owner or managing organisation before walking into a convenient-looking route.

Treat the journey as part of the visit

Park where permitted, avoid blocking working access, and follow instructions for gates. Keep clear of livestock and give other land users space. The quality of a fishing day begins before the first view of the water.

Leave permission worth extending

Take rubbish home and report an access problem through the proper channel. A respectful visit makes it easier for fishing and other uses of the land to coexist. The return through the gate matters as much as the arrival.

Treat people, wildlife, and access with care. Follow the instructions for the particular place you are visiting.
